YMS MID-YEAR DISCERNMENT

The idea behind this mid-year discernment process is to help you develop your spiritual core in a personal way over a 90-day period.

It's Thanksgiving, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the relationship we share. Our bond, cultivated over the years, has brought us to this remarkable point in the middle of the current school year.

I'd like to encourage you to spend an hour sometime this Thanksgiving holiday to reflect upon how you would like to develop your spiritual core over a 90 day period.

For instance, if healing is central to your personal development, you might practice mantra chanting to cultivate that focus around Shakti, one of the two primary aspects of Tantra.

Alternatively, you could choose enlightenment as your core focus and engage in devotional singing to nurture that emphasis on the sacred masculine, which represents a different aspect of Tantra.

Another possibility is to frame transformation as your central theme and utilize Tantric rituals or meditation practices as your tools for realization, centered around the concepts of impersonal Brahman or ātman as your broader themes.

In other words, you have the flexibility to create a fully customizable approach, tailored to your current needs, preferences, and inclinations at this time and for this next phase of your spiritual development and realization. Or, if you prefer the term: self-actualization.

A Simple Blueprint For Your Process

You choose a modality (your means) to develop your spiritual core (your depth need), built around a broad theme (your tradition of choice).

DEVELOPING A 90-DAY FOCUS AND PRACTICE

This presentation can help you determine how to approach your process over the next three months to make it relevant to your needs.

The audio-visual presentation below walks you through everything we've covered over the past six months and gives you the presenter's perspective on our curriculum development in community context.

During the first half of the school year, we focused on community development through the curriculum, supported by our group sessions. Private sessions were designed to address individual needs and make the learning process more relevant for each student.

In the second half of the school year, we will shift our focus to the individual student, while still providing support through group sessions. The curriculum will evolve from each student’s unique process rather than adhering to a predetermined blueprint.

I appreciate your involvement in this journey and wish you a blessed and happy Thanksgiving if you are in the United States. For those of you in Europe or Canada, please know how important you are to our sense of spiritual family.Ā

In One Spirit,Ā Ā
