YMS MID-YEAR DISCERNMENT

The idea behind this mid-year discernment process is to help you develop your spiritual core in a personal way over a 90-day period.

Developing Your Inner Core

What often stands between us and our spiritual development is our inner critic. While our inner critic can motivate us to strive for excellence, it can also hinder our growth. One effective way to address this inner critic is by developing our inner core.

To begin this process, choose a quality or condition of the soul that you want to cultivate at your core. This could be qualities like peace, strength, confidence, love, healing, or enlightenment.

Next, select your means or medium for development. If you love language, you might choose speech or mantras. If music or singing resonates with you, that could be your medium. Alternatively, if you prefer meditation, stillness, and silence, meditation could be your means. For some, sacred actions and the dynamism of movement may be the preferred approach.

Lastly, choose an overarching theme. If you identify with feminism, you might select concepts like the Ultimate Shakti. Others may prefer non-gendered approaches, such as non-dualism, while some might feel drawn to the sacred masculine with terms like Father or Lord Almighty.

Combining these three aspects—your core, your means, and your tradition—can create a powerful impact over a 90-day period. You can enhance your journey with specific courses available in our library to support your development.

A Simple Blueprint For Your Process

You choose a modality (your means) to develop your spiritual core (your depth need), built around a broad theme (your tradition of choice).

DEVELOPING A 90-DAY FOCUS AND PRACTICE

The audio-visual presentation below walks you through everything we've covered over the past six months and gives you the presenter's perspective on our curriculum development in community context.

During the first half of the school year, we focused on community development through the curriculum, supported by our group sessions. Private sessions were designed to address individual needs and make the learning process more relevant for each student.

In the second half of the school year, we will shift our focus to the individual student, while still providing support through group sessions. The curriculum will evolve from each student’s unique process rather than adhering to a predetermined blueprint.

I appreciate your involvement in this journey and wish you a blessed and happy Thanksgiving if you are in the United States. For those of you in Europe or Canada, please know how important you are to our sense of spiritual family.

In One Spirit,

Russill
