New World Library — Books & Publishing

Two Books. A Distinctive Voice. An International Publishing Partnership.

My work as an author grew naturally out of decades devoted to music, contemplative practice, and the exploration of spiritual traditions. This led to the publication of two books by New World Library, an established independent publisher known for bringing thoughtful works on spirituality, personal growth, and conscious living to readers around the world.

Drawing upon my years of training in India and subsequent work as a musician and teacher, The Yoga of Sound offers a comprehensive exploration of mantra, sacred sound, and the transformative potential of the human voice. The book brings together traditional knowledge, practical instruction, and my own approach to making these disciplines accessible to contemporary practitioners.

In Jesus in the Lotus, I explore the meeting of Christian mysticism and India's yogic traditions through the perspective of someone deeply immersed in both worlds. Combining personal experience, spiritual inquiry, and cross-cultural interpretation, the book invites readers to discover meaningful connections between these great contemplative traditions. The work covers deep spiritual experience.

Together, these publications represent a substantial body of original writing, research, conceptual development, and the translation of complex subjects into accessible works for a broad readership.

Four Decades of Music, Sacred Sound & Creative Exploration

My professional recording career began in India in 1986 and has continued for four decades through composition, studio recording, film music, international releases, live performance, sacred music, mantra and contemporary music production.

My work has taken me from recording studios in South India to collaborations with musicians such as Arlo Guthrie, Brad Gillis, Ramesh Mishra and Deepak Ram, and to recordings released internationally through companies including Sounds True, GAIAM, The Relaxation Company and Rising Son Records.

At the heart of much of this work is a lifelong exploration of sound and consciousness: how voice, mantra, musical structure, instrumentation and technology can be used not simply to create music, but to shape experience.

Spirit Bridges — Produced with Arlo Guthrie (1996)

Spirit Bridges: Yoga Music of the Ten String Avitar brought together Indian musical traditions and contemporary instrumentation in a collection of original compositions.

I composed, arranged, and performed the instrumentation, featuring my custom-designed ten-string Avitar, guitars, synthesizers, and other instruments, with Nikhil Pandya contributing tabla.

The album was developed in collaboration with legendary American folk musician Arlo Guthrie, who assisted with production at his recording studio in the Berkshires, Massachusetts.

This recording represents an important chapter in my exploration of cross-cultural music, combining acoustic and electronic instruments with the rhythmic and contemplative traditions of India.

Sacred Love Songs — Dolphin Bay Music (1998)

Sacred Love Songs: From the Depths of the Heart was a two-year recording project featuring my original compositions, vocals, and musical arrangements, produced for Dolphin Bay Music.

The album brought together an accomplished group of musicians, including Brad Gillis, guitarist for Night Ranger; jazz pianist Mark Little; and bassist John Evans, known for his work with Tori Amos.

Recorded and mixed at Spirit Wind Studios in Hayward, California, the album combined acoustic instrumentation, contemporary arrangements, and choral performances to explore themes of spiritual love, devotion, and humanity's relationship with the natural world.

I served as composer, vocalist, and executive producer, overseeing the project from its creative development through the completed recording.

The Relaxation Company — Original Recordings (1999–2000)

In 1999, The Relaxation Company released Nada Yoga: The Ancient Science of Sound, featuring my original compositions and multi-instrumental performances, accompanied by a 24-page educational booklet.

This was followed in 2000 by The Yoga of Sound, a three-album collection comprising Shabda Yoga, Shakti Yoga, and Bhava Yoga. Each recording was accompanied by an illustrated booklet exploring the musical and spiritual traditions underlying the work.

These internationally distributed recordings brought together original music, sacred chant, traditional instruments, and contemporary production techniques.

The Yoga of Music and Chant — 2007 Reissues & Billboard Success

In 2007, The Relaxation Company relaunched my earlier recordings under The Yoga of Music and Chant, introducing new cover artwork, revised album groupings, and a renewed promotional campaign.

The recordings were presented both individually and in paired collections, including Awakening Spirit & Mantra Mysticism and Tantric Embrace & Ecstatic Heart, bringing these explorations of sacred sound to a new audience.

A particularly significant achievement was the success of Shakti, which spent nine weeks on the Billboard charts.

This relaunch extended the international life of the original recordings and demonstrated the enduring appeal of music rooted in the traditions of Nada Yoga, mantra, Tantra and Bhakti.

A.M. & P.M. Yoga Chants — GAIAM / The Relaxation Company (2001)

In 2001, The Relaxation Company, in association with GAIAM, released A.M. Yoga Chants and P.M. Yoga Chants, subsequently presented together as A.M. & P.M. Yoga Chants.

Created to accompany yoga, relaxation and contemplative practice, these recordings combined my original musical arrangements, sacred chanting and multi-instrumental production. The sessions also featured Barry Sless on pedal steel guitar.

The recordings received international distribution through two established companies in the wellness and music industries.

Mantra Magic — A Guha Music Release (2014)

Mantra Magic marked a new chapter in my musical journey. Released in 2014, twelve years after my previous albums, it brought together mantra, devotional song, and my long-standing love of guitar in a more contemporary and personal way.

The album moves freely between kirtan, sacred song, and original arrangements, drawing on acoustic and electric guitars while remaining rooted in the spiritual heart of mantra practice. It was an opportunity for me to let these traditions breathe in a fresh musical language.

Several tracks carry a playful, exploratory spirit, while others open into a more inward and devotional mood. Throughout the album, the intention was to honor the depth of the tradition while allowing room for creative freedom, rhythmic variety, and a broader emotional range.
